Early Childhood Education Community Connectors

Level: 2.1

Salary: 53,618 per annum/pro rata

Hours/Employment Status: 15 hours per week

The A2E Community Connectors support parents, carers and early childhood aged children at various Town Camp Community Centres and in the surrounding suburbs of Larapinta CFC to access early childhood education. Duties include; identifying families with children in the 0-5 age bracket, assisting families to access early childhood programs or preschool, working with playgroups and early childhood providers to ensure that early childhood programs are culturally safe and culturally relevant and to assist in connecting early childhood programs to family members, the community and other services that assist children to have a strong learning journey.

These are Aboriginal identified positions that focus on helping Aboriginal families, carers and children access early childhood education.  Each of these flexible positions totals up to 15 hours per week. The work of the Community Connector will be managed by Tangentyere and outcomes will be tied to an overarching Community Engagement Strategy developed between Tangentyere and Larapinta Child Family Centre.

Community Connector 1 will be an Aboriginal person ideally residing within the Larapinta Child Family Centre (CFC) catchment area who will work to connect families and their children to the CFC through promotion and direct engagement.  This role will work closely with both CFC staff and the Early Childhood Education (ECE) coordinator providing them with information on potential barriers to attendance which will then be addressed.  This connector will at times also assist staff at the CFC to support family attendance.

Community Connector 2 will be an Aboriginal person with detailed knowledge of Tangentyere Town Camp’s and will work with the Early Childhood Educator and Community Coordinator to increase engagement and attendance in Early Childhood Education. They will also support the Early Childhood Educator in the delivery of Early Childhood Activities.

This position requires a satisfactory Police Check and Ochre Card.
