Aim & Activities

Tangentyere Artists is an Aboriginal Art Centre enterprise providing training, production, distribution and marketing support to artists in the Alice Springs town camp communities. Tangentyere Artists provides an opportunity for cultural preservation and transmission, and brings economic and social benefits to Town Camp residents.

Background

Since its inception in 2005, Tangentyere Artists has made great progress in implementing its ambitious plans to provide ethical art services to all town camps in Alice Springs. The Art Centre provides outreach art services to nineteen Alice Springs Aboriginal town camps and has 320 artists involved in the Centre.

Achievements

Following group and solo exhibitions in Alice Springs, including participation in the annual Desert Mob exhibition, Tangentyere Artists is developing an interstate exhibition schedule with leading art galleries. The Art Centre participated for the first time in 2007 as a finalist in the Telstra NATSIA Awards.
