Financial Counselling Service
Purpose
The Tangentyere Financial Counselling Service provides a service to all Aboriginal People of Central Australia.
The role of this service is to provide assistance and education on financial counselling and consumer rights and responsibilities as well as acting on behalf of people as an advocate.
Background
The office of the Financial Counsellor has been in operation on a full time basis at Tangentyere Council since November 1995.
The Financial Counselling service is funded under the Commonwealth Financial Counselling Program through the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.

- Credit/Debt Issues
- Banking
- Deceased Estates
- Superannuation
- Consumer Issues
Partnerships
The office of the Financial Counsellor works closely with many government departments at a Territory and Commonwealth level. The Financial Counsellor is a member of the N.T. Commercial Passenger Vehicle Board and is a member of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Consumer Advisory Panel.
